A PEACEFUL RETREAT | XANADU VILLAS & RETREAT
We all need to find some time to recover our energy and get rid of stress....
While walking through the city I felt so inspired by the traditional Arabic thawb and a shemagh. A thawb is the traditional Arabian clothing commonly worn by men and it looks like a white dress with long sleeves and it appears very comfy and clean.Â
Â
Especially during the summer when it's around 50 degrees here in Dubai I imagine that it's too hot to wear a lot of layers of clothing. We have planned a day trip in the desert where it's crazily hot, so I prepared myself to cover my head against the sun. So I learned how to tie the Arabic shemagh simply known as a scarf!! It's the perfect solution for a bad hair day and less hot then wearing your hair down.Â
I decided to wear these long green pants for a comfy but classy look and a cute white see through blouse with sandals. I didn’t forgot my pair of black sunglasses.
After an 30 minutes drive we were surrounded with Dubai's barren landscapes and Palm trees directly within the Arabian Desert. Since I’ve been in Dubai for a quite a while, it seemed to me that Dubai has a lot of different contrasts. Whenever you want to visit the old city, a luxurious mall, take a walk in the desert or climb a mountain, you can make a lot happen in the city of gold. As soon we felt accustomed to the environment, we started with a camel ride. I really was looking forward to this camels in the desert but once I saw the camels I totally forgot how frightened I am of big animals taller than I am?! I found these animals huge! I managed to keep it all together and once I sat down, I get to really enjoy the ride. Fortunately we had a guy who was guiding us and walked in front during the ride to direct the camels. Looking back at these pictures I made, I realized how much fun I had to have done that! I can't wait for my next camel ride.
After the whole ride we had some drinks at Bab Al Shams, a luxury resort & spa. This is one of the worlds leading desert resorts. The friendly staff welcomed us with open arms since they already knew that we were coming. The place is beautiful, really big and it is very convenient getaway for those living in the city. To complete this day we were directed to Al Hadeerah, an arabic restaurant. Just walking to the restaurant through the desert at night was just mesmerizing. This is the ultimate Arabian experience with a great food entertainment. From the Eastern cuisine till the entertainment they thought of everything and gave us a night to remember. That was a lot of sand I have seen in just one day…… Enjoy the pictures!
